Lisa M. Russell is a writer, writing instructor, and academic assistant dean. She writes books about forgotten items and locations. She has been a guest on local and broadcast shows and podcasts. On History’s UnXplained, with William Shatner, she discussed the curses of Lake Lanier.  “Fill the Room” was her Tedx Talk in 2022, where she emphasized the importance of preserving local history.”

Russell earned her Master of Arts in professional writing from Kennesaw State University. The MAPW awarded Lisa the 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award. Lisa is the Assistant Dean of English at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. She is a part-time professor of communication at Kennesaw State University. In her “spare time,” you can find Lisa exploring North Georgia with her micro-historic lens to discover her next “lost” story.

Her Georgia Covered Bridges book comes out on September 3, 2023. Russell’s next project is a co-authored book about The Mysterious and Endangered Pine Log Mountain in North Georgia.
