Georgia Lost Things Series at North Cobb County Library

September 14, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm UTC+0

Join us as we explore the rich history of the North Georgia towns that are no more with author and professor Lisa M. Russell as she unearths the forgotten towns of North Georgia as described in her 2016 book, Lost Towns of North Georgia. The remains of numerous towns dot the landscape – pockets of life that were lost to fire or drowned by the water of civic works projects. For example, Cassville was a booming educational and cultural epicenter until 1864, Allatoona found its identity as a railroad town, and in 1832, Auraria was one of the sites of the original American gold rush.

For more fascinating North Georgia history, join us for discussions of the author’s other books on all Georgia things lost:

October 12 at 6pm: Underwater Ghost Towns of North Georgia, c2018

November 9 at 6pm: Lost Mill Towns of North Georgia, c2020
